Newton Hall and Brasside

Our Newton Hall walk is all about the views of the cathedral. This shorter 3 mile walks has good access to paths and amazing views of Durham Catederal. Beginning at Franklin Lane the Route follows part of Cuddy’s Corse, the symbolic route taken by the community of St Cuthebert on his final journey from Lindisfarne to Durham. Once the path nears the River Wear we leave the Cuddy’s Corse and take a left into the woods and head up towards the train line, crossing over into the urban area of Newton Hall. The route then heads through Canterbury Road Park, crossing the train line once again before entering Low Newton nature reserve. The route then picks up Leams Line railway path continuing back to the start.
